We operate two boats available for daily self steer hire.  One is red (Ruston) and the other is green (Crossley).

 

The boats are 30' long narrowboats are available for self steer evening hire on an 11.5 mile lock free stretch of the Leeds and Liverpool Canal, between Wigan Top Lock and Johnson's Hillock Locks at Wheelton.  This stretch has plenty to offer all the family, with lovely rural views of the Douglas Valley and the Rivington Moors.

 

Why not stop for a meal at a canal side pub.  We have negotiated a fixed price menu with the Malthouse Farm at Whittle-le-Woods where we can reserve an area for your whole group (Please allow at least two days notice for us to organise although your choice of food can be ordered on the evening)..  Other venues are available but we are currently unable to offer any special deals and reserved spaces, we are working on this and information will become available on our web site in due course.  ( Click here for details)

 

The boats are ideal for groups of all ages and are easy handle. Full instructions are given by staff before you depart to ensure your confidence and comfort. The boats can carry up to 10 people for self steer bookings. They are equipped with a W.C., a grill and four burners, hot and cold water supply, mugs, glasses, crockery, cutlery, saucepans, frying pan and a kettle.  Buoyancy aids are provided as required.

Prices changed to hourly rates to reflect shorter hire periods on nights where it gets dark early.
